I am grateful for...

Happy Thursday Beauties and Gents!
On this blustery Thursday, I am grateful for...
The people that look beyond their nose to see that the world needs help.
This past Friday  my University organized a group of students to participate in the "Cover the Night" group that was working to bring awareness to the Kony2012 campaign.  If you don't know about the Kony campaign or would like to learn more, you can watch a wonderful documentary here.  It is definitely worth giving a watch.
Anyways, a group of lovely people got together on April 20 and we went out from 10pm-2am and covered Albuquerque, NM in Kony2012 posters.  Needless to say it was a great success and very powerful to see that many people actually do care about people other than themselves.
Here in America we are fed the idea that outside of our country there live lesser people, we have a "forget them, let them fend for themselves" ideal, but we need to remember that they are us.
Furthermore, thank you to the individuals that participated and showed your compassion.

Remember Thursdays will be the day to share what you are grateful for, and if you want to be included in this resolution of sorts. Your "I am grateful for..." posts can be anything from pictures, to stories, music, art, whatever! Be create and share with the world what YOU are grateful for. Big or small, share it all! :)

Excuses, Excuses...

Outfit Details:
Long Sleeved Blouse -Thrifted
Pencil Skirt - Thrifted
Blazer - Thrifted
Black Flats - American Eagle
Red Purse - Ross

I never realized just how much work being in a Bachelors program would be.  I skimmed by in getting my Associates degree and passed with flying colors, never realizing that I was completely unprepared for what was to come.  Actually having to study for my midterms and finals was a foreign concept to me.  Reading the textbooks that I spend so much money on, was something that I never did, until the last two semesters that is.  Although, I can say that I have learned more in the past two semesters than I have perhaps, ever.  It is refreshing to be gaining knowledge that I actually feel like I can use later on in my career.  Aside from being blindsided by continuous course work and difficult classes, the point of all this is to excuse my inadvertent lack in blogging.  The excuse is legit, I swear.  Not to mention my completely inopportune times that I choose to get sick and stay sick for weeks on end, but that's another story completely.

Now to the more important things: Almost my entire outfit in this post was thrifted, and not only that but also FREE!  I think that we can all appreciate that four letter word.  But seriously, this outfit came to be kudos from a very dear family friend who won me a voucher to a lovely little thrift store downtown with delightful outfits that are wonderful for my low budget wallet.

Finally, one another extremely exciting note.  A very close and wonderful family friend has taken an interest in my little fashion blog and has subsequently purchased us our own website!  So I can now be found at:
alyshaemarie.com

Wooooooooowhoooo, yes yes very exciting. :D

So please remember to bookmark/favorite my little blog... <3

Much love,

P.S. I seem to have lost my wonderful canon, so excuse the lower quality photos.

I am grateful for...

Good Afternoon Beauties!
It has come to my attention that everyone nowadays really struggle with finding inspiration, or positive outlooks on life. I read a lot of your alls blogs, or facebooks, twitters, etc. && for the most part everyone is pretty negative and always complaining about one thing or another. I understand that we all go through hard times and struggles, but I think it is important that we all pull together and realize that we have wonderful lives, sometimes better than what we deserve and we should be grateful for the wonderful, beautiful lives that we lead and all of the things that we are given! So Thursdays will be my day to share with you what I am grateful for, and if you want to be included in this resolution of sorts. Then just comment below and I will include the image hyperlink so that we all can be connected. Your "I am grateful for..." posts can be anything from pictures, to stories, music, art, whatever! Be create and share with the world what YOU are grateful for. Big or small, share it all! :)

One this fine, beautiful Thursday, I am grateful for...
My family. No matter what we have gone through, or had to go against, we always come out strong. I have never come into contact with a family that is as close knit a bunch as my family [biased or not]. I love each and every one of them and all of their unique quirks.

My mother: I could never thank her enough or put into complete words what she means to me. There is no other woman out there like her. She gives me constant guidance and wisdom, and is always there when I need her. Regardless if I am lost in the city or suffering a break up; she always knows exactly what to say. She has taught be strength, and I always say, 'The only thing that's keeping me alive is her".

My father: An amazing man that has taught me the good and bad of this world, and how to decipher the two. He is full of wisdom that I try to soak up as best as I can, always teaching me new outlooks. One of my favorite things that he ever taught me was to be open minded and make my own decisions. He and I have grown together and now have a great relationship where we truly would be lost without one another. Although he may not always have the perfect thing to say to express his feelings, he always knows exactly what to say when I need him to give me guidance, protect and truth.

My sister: A wonderful, beautiful individual that has lots of growing to do! She has taught me to be patient, and she always knows when I need a hug or just someone to talk to me when I can't quite fall asleep at night. She is always on my side no matter what, and has definitely been a light in my life. I can't wait to see the woman she turns into.

My oldest brother: Ohh man has this little guy given me a run for my money. He tests my patience, and tries my temper. But never ceases to help me see that patience prevails in trialing times. He has given me so many reason to smile over the years and being around him is never a bore. His love for God gives me hope.

My youngest brother: I can't believe how strong my little brother is, prevailing through his disease with such courage that I feel... pathetic for my meager complaints. You are a light in my life, and I will continue to pray for a cure for you. You are such a beautiful human being, and my heart aches to make you better. My little brother's courage gives me strength.
Sorry for the wall of words everyone! Getting that all out really put it into a deeper perspective. I can't wait to read your posts!

Much love,
Alysha E. Marie

My True Love. <3

Happiest Place on Earth!

Favorite Ride in Disneyland.

Spending time with my favorite person in the world.

New Years's Plans: Trying something new this year! First time ever actually going to a party for New Year's, feel strange but also exciting!

A letter to a person that you grew apart from this year: Anyone that I grew apart from this year was for my own benefit. Everyone that is meant to stay in my life; stays. && those that shouldn't be here, are always removed. Therefore, I have nothing to say to the people that are no longer sharing my life with me.

A list of what you want to change in the new year:
1. Myself [obviously]
2. My living circumstances [stabilization]
3. The relationships that I have with others.
4. The relationship that I have with myself.
5. My outlook.

Five people who you got really close to:
Edit: Only have two now. The new year brought about not only a new outlook but also a new understanding of trust.

As always my mother: our relationship is constantly growing and she is constantly teaching me new things about myself and the world. I feel that we get closer and closer each and every year. I love you mamma! :)

My Daddy: Our relationship has ups and downs, but this year I feel that there were many more ups than downs, and that brought us closer. :)

My resolution: Focusing on my own goals and the creation of myself, rather than always being constantly stressed about everyone else. Being selfless has it's ups and downs. I need to find balance.

There is thunder in our hearts.

This outfit is one that I out together for Thanksgiving with my family.  I
especially love the colors in the coats, they seemed very fitting to me since they are Thanksgivingy colors. Enjoy! :)

Outfit Details:
Dark Blue Jeans - Sears
Gray Close Knit Sweater - Forever 21
Black Leather Capella Boots - Charlotte Russe
Classic Pea Plaid Coat with Faux Fur - Ross
Deer Necklace - Clairs
Vintage Red Crystal Ring - A Gift From My Parents

If it weren't for the careful guidance of my wonderful, trustworthy mother, I would be hopelessy drowning in the life that  I try desperately to shape into my own.  These past few weeks have been such a hassle with trying to figure out where I stand.  I love having a mother that truly cares about my well being and who can truly help me to see my faults and where I can make corrections.

You see.... Ever since I can remember I have been an extreme push over, maybe even an extreme people pleaser.  I don't know how this unfortunate habit developed, but until recently I never saw it as anything to be concerned about.  Afterall, isn't it good to be there for everyone when they need it and do everything that you can for everyone when they need it? No, I see now that it isn't. I see now that I have left myself open to manipulation from many different parties over the years.

My game face is shameful. I do nothing for myself, and if I do, it only last for short times until I stop doing it completely to make room for the needs of others. I say no more.

What an eye opener this week has been!  && because of this discovery, I intend to begin the journey of self discovery and self happiness.
I am willing and I am ready. Wish me luck!

As a side note, are there any other self admitted people pleasers out there?

Love, Alysha E. Marie

Long time, No Post.

Hello fellow bloggggers!
It has been such a long while since I have blogged with you all, I apologize for my absence.  I got so busy over the summer and then had an extremely difficult time returning back to all of you.  Blogging takes out a huge portion of my time when I do it regularly, and it's  somewhat difficult when you feel like you have no followers.  Although I have more than most. [Gotta find the positives!]
Before, this blog was such a motivation to me, and I really do need it back in my life, along with all of you wonderful ladies that have supported me along the way.
I adore each and every one of you! <3

Soooo, I am returning! && you can expect to see regular postings from this point forward.
Real quick question, are there any requests for posting topics or tutorials?
Just to get me started and all...

Talk to all you lovelies soon!

Love, Alysha E. Marie
