If it weren't for the careful guidance of my wonderful, trustworthy mother, I would be hopelessy drowning in the life that  I try desperately to shape into my own.  These past few weeks have been such a hassle with trying to figure out where I stand.  I love having a mother that truly cares about my well being and who can truly help me to see my faults and where I can make corrections.

You see.... Ever since I can remember I have been an extreme push over, maybe even an extreme people pleaser.  I don't know how this unfortunate habit developed, but until recently I never saw it as anything to be concerned about.  Afterall, isn't it good to be there for everyone when they need it and do everything that you can for everyone when they need it? No, I see now that it isn't. I see now that I have left myself open to manipulation from many different parties over the years.

My game face is shameful. I do nothing for myself, and if I do, it only last for short times until I stop doing it completely to make room for the needs of others. I say no more.

What an eye opener this week has been!  && because of this discovery, I intend to begin the journey of self discovery and self happiness.
I am willing and I am ready. Wish me luck!

As a side note, are there any other self admitted people pleasers out there?

Ever since I was a little girl, I can remember my Daddy always saying, “There’s nothing new under the sun.” Now what did he mean by this? Simply that no idea, thought or action was something new, or something that has not already been thought about or carried out by someone else. As disheartening as this may seem, I believe that it is absolutely true. However, this is not to say that uniqueness does not exist. You see, there may be another girl down the block that has the same dress that you have, but I guarantee that the two of you never wear it in exactly the same way. && that is what makes that dress unique to you. Once you put on that dress and accessorize it to your liking, you have made it a part of you; a part of your psyche.

This is the main reason that I am so in love with fashion and all of the possibilities that it holds, because you create yourself, your inner personality and soul through the way that you dress. Whether you go for the edgy look, the street look or the girlie look, you are representing yourself through clothing, whether you realize it or not, and I think that is beautiful.

I encourage everyone to ponder this the next time you “throw something on your back”.

I have always been somewhat of a night owl, well, actually not somewhat, I am a night owl.  This probably stems from my parents and their late nights ever since I was a youngster.  I always feel more motivated to do things at night and I always feel much less lethargic when the witching hour rolls in.  Don't ask me why, because I couldn't come up with a sufficient answer.  && no matter how many times I try to crawl into bed at a decent time, I always fail miserably. I am a special kind of night owl though, because I can sometimes be an early bird too. So, I guess I am wise and eat worms.
I am the kind of girl that either sleeps way to much, or hardly at all.  Despite my desperate need to transition to a life solely dedicated to the early bird style, I am always up till at least two every night. I have been told time and time again that this type of schedule is completely unhealthy, but in some ways, I love the changes in monotony that somehow provides my otherwise mundane life with a sense of enthusiastic passion for living.

I have always thought that when going casual you can always dress up a little bit and still be comfortable.  There are so many more options to being casual that just a simple t-shirt and pair of jeans. && that is exactly what I have done here.  I paired a somewhat dressy and very comfortable top with a soft cardigan and added a gorgeous ring, and waaalaa! Comfortably dressy.  I encourage everyone to try a dressy twist out on regular days, it definitely puts a jump in your step!

I'd like to send out a special thank you to the people that emailed me about my absence. I can't say enough how much it means to me to see that you all care. I also would like to welcome my newest followers, Isabel Spectra and Sterre Hoek.  These lovely ladies have put together such cute little blogs, I would definitely recommend checking them out!

Sometimes, we have to get lost to find ourselves.

Outfit Details:
Vintage Style White Frills Dress - Thrifted
Cotton Button Up - Forever 21
Black Leather Handbag - Zumiez
Gianni Bini Pumps - Sears
Pink Charm Bracelet - A Gift From My Mom

I was surprised at how much black I actually wore on this particular day, I was going for a very modest and churchy look at the time and I feel as though I accomplished just that.  I have hardly any black pieces of clothing or accessories, so a good portion of those are featured in this outfit.  Those pumps you see there were my very first high heel shoes [other than the wee little ones my mother purchased when I was a little rascal].  I remember when I got them I was beginning to explore other fashions besides my boyish set of jeans and converse.  I will always be partial to these beauties; they are the perfect size and shape and are only about a five inch heel, so they are beyond comfortable.

It is difficult to believe that I ever sported the boyish look, even to me it seems like another life or something awkward like that.  I was very into being a tomboy and loved getting messy with the boys [even though boys were icky and had cooties] and holey jeans were my best friend.  I guess it takes everyone a while to settle into their own and find their true fashion and their true self.  Looks like I grew up to be a total girl.  You know what I mean, I rejoice when  I spot something pink and wince at the thought of a spider.
Ohh the joys of growing up. (:

P.S. This posting definitely would not have happened today if it had not been per the request of my number one fan, so it is for this, that I dedicate today's posting to you. You know who you are. Lots of love. <3
